These terms explain what you can expect from Horizo and what we expect from you. We've kept them as plain as we can.
1. Horizo and these terms
Horizo is market-monitoring software that checks the public feeds, web pages and news searches you choose, detects changes to watched pages, filters and scores what it finds, and sends briefings and alerts that cite their sources. It is operated by New Odyssey Ltd ("New Odyssey", "we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between New Odyssey and the business or person who signs up for Horizo ("you"). By creating an account, checking the box at sign-up or using Horizo, you agree to them, on behalf of yourself and any business you represent. Horizo is for business use; if you don't agree, don't use it.
Features, allowances and limits depend on your plan. Anything marked "Coming soon" or "Early access" on our site or in the app isn't part of what you buy until we mark it live, and early-access features may change or be withdrawn.
Our privacy policy and Horizo's data export and deletion policy explain how we handle information and form part of these terms.
2. Monitoring public sources
Horizo fetches only public pages and feeds that you (or a proposal you confirmed) asked it to watch. It identifies itself, follows each site's robots.txt and keeps a polite request rate. You're responsible for choosing sources you're entitled to monitor and for how you use what it finds; Horizo shows short excerpts and links to the source rather than republishing content.
Scores, summaries and page diffs can be wrong or incomplete. Every briefing item links to its source and date; check the source before you rely on it. Horizo isn't legal, financial or regulatory advice.
A briefing you share by link can be read by anyone who has the link until you turn sharing off. Slack is a channel you connect with your own webhook, not our sub-processor.
3. Accounts and workspaces
Give accurate details, keep access to your sign-in email secure, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for what happens in your account and workspace. Workspace owners decide who can join and with which role.
4. Plans, trials and billing
- Prices are in US dollars and exclude any taxes that apply. Payments are processed by Stripe.
- Monthly plans are billed in advance each month and renew automatically until you cancel.
- Paid monthly plans start with a 7-day free trial, which needs a card, except for a workspace holding the lifetime license, whose monthly plan starts straight away. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, the plan starts and your card is charged the monthly price. Cancel during the trial from your Plan page and you won't be charged. Each workspace gets one trial.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. A new price applies from your next billing period after the notice ends; it never changes a lifetime license you've already bought.
5. Canceling and refunds
You can cancel a monthly plan at any time from your Plan page. It stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, then ends. Your workspace and data stay available to read and export after that.
Monthly fees are charged in advance and aren't refunded for the rest of a billing period after you cancel, except where the law requires it. If you were charged in error, email clio@new-odyssey.com and we'll put it right. The lifetime license has its own 30-day refund, below.
6. The lifetime license
The lifetime license is a one-time payment of $99 for one workspace. We sell at most 315 of them. There's nothing to renew and no monthly charge.
- "Lifetime" means the life of the product: for as long as New Odyssey runs Horizo as a service. It isn't the lifetime of the buyer or of your business.
- It includes the allowances listed on the offer and on your Plan page when you buy, which reset each calendar month and stop at their limit (there's no extra-usage charge). We won't reduce the allowances of a license you've bought.
- It covers the features on the offer. New features may be offered on monthly plans or as paid add-ons.
- It belongs to the workspace it was bought for and can't be transferred, resold or split. You can add a monthly plan at any time for more, and keep the license for when that plan ends.
Fair use: the license is for running your own business in the normal way the offer describes. Don't resell or share access, run it for other businesses, automate bulk use or try to get around its limits. If use goes well beyond what a typical license holder does and affects the service for others, we'll contact you first and agree on a fix, such as moving to a monthly plan. We won't end a license for fair-use reasons without notice and a chance to fix it.
30-day refund: if the license isn't right for you, email clio@new-odyssey.com from the address you sign in with within 30 days of paying, and tell us the workspace name. You don't need to give a reason. We refund the full price to the original payment method through Stripe (banks usually take 5 to 10 business days to show it), and the license ends when the refund is made. Your workspace and data aren't deleted: you can export them or choose a monthly plan. Please ask us before disputing the charge with your bank; a refund is quicker.
7. If Horizo closes
If we decide to stop running Horizo, we'll tell every account owner by email at least 90 days before it closes. Until it closes you can keep using it and export your data at any time, as the data export and deletion policy describes. That is when a lifetime license ends.
8. Your content and your customers' data
You own what you put into Horizo and what it produces for you ("your content"), subject to anyone else's rights in it. You give us permission to host, process and send your content only to run Horizo for you, to support you and to keep the service secure. We don't use your content to train AI models, and we don't share it with other New Odyssey products.
For information about your teammates, and people named in the public articles and pages Horizo fetches for you, you decide what's collected and why, and we process it on your behalf and on your instructions. You're responsible for having a lawful basis and any notices or consents you need to collect it, and for answering their requests (we'll help).
9. AI-generated output
Horizo uses AI models. Their output can be inaccurate, incomplete or similar to what others receive. Horizo gives you ways to review it, and you're responsible for checking output before you rely on it or send or publish it, and for making sure it's accurate and lawful.
10. Acceptable use
Don't use the service to:
- break the law or anyone's rights, including privacy, intellectual property and consumer-protection laws;
- publish or send deceptive, defamatory or fabricated claims or reviews, or send spam;
- impersonate anyone, or hide that content or a conversation comes from AI where the law or a platform requires you to say so;
- create or share unlawful, harmful, hateful or sexually explicit content, or anything that exploits children;
- access other customers' data, probe, overload or reverse-engineer the service, upload malware, or get around usage limits.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules. Where we can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.
11. Service providers (subprocessors)
Horizo relies on these providers, each processing data on our instructions and only for the purpose shown:
- Render: hosting, databases and backups, in the United States.
- Stripe: subscription and license payments (card details go to Stripe, never to us).
- Resend: sending email.
- Anthropic: proposing sources, scoring items and writing briefing lines from fetched items.
- Exa: news and web search for the names and topics you choose.
Services you choose to connect (your calendar, CRM, email tool or website, for example) receive data under their own terms when you connect them, and you can disconnect them at any time. We'll update this list before adding a provider that handles your content.
12. Availability and changes
We work to keep Horizo available and secure, but it's provided without a service-level guarantee unless we agree one in writing. We may change or remove features, and we'll give reasonable notice before a change that materially reduces what you've paid for.
13. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Horizo is provided "as is" and "as available", and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, goodwill or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to Horizo is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Horizo in the 12 months before the claim and US$100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
14. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the service and delete your workspace at any time. We may suspend or end access for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, or for non-payment. When an account ends, you can ask us for an export of your content for 30 days, after which it may be deleted.
15. Disputes and governing law
If you have a complaint, email clio@new-odyssey.com first; we'll try to resolve it with you within 30 days. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of England and Wales decide any dispute. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under the law where you're based that can't be limited by contract.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. We'll email account owners at least 30 days before a change that materially affects them takes effect. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can cancel (and, within its refund window, ask for a lifetime license refund).
17. General
These terms, with the privacy and data policies they mention, are the whole agreement between you and New Odyssey about Horizo. If a part can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part isn't a waiver of it. You can't transfer these terms without our agreement; we may transfer them to a successor that takes over Horizo, and we'll tell you if we do.
